Where: Meet at  Alfred H. Savage Centre (along Fox Drive – south side, and just east of Whitemud Drive), then we will be heading through Whitemud Creek Ravine.

What: This is a casual Winter Plant Walk where we will botanize together to identify some plants based on winter features like buds, as well as look at the smaller things like lichens and bryophytes. The trip will include walking ravine/river valley trails including a mix of paved, unpaved and narrow, gravel and wider, stairs and/or steep hills. The majority of the paths are fairly flat ground.

Trip Lead: Ashley Hillman / Diana Tirlea / Diane Haughland / Teri Hill – casual walk and gathering of botanists and plant-lovers, no formal talk for this walk.

To Bring: Weather appropriate outdoor clothing, water, snacks, personal medical requirements (e.g. EpiPen). Please note that the trails can get very slippery during these times so please bring good foot wear including ice cleats if you have them.

Recommended To Bring (but not necessary to join the fun): Hand Lens, Plant Books, Smartphone w/ iNaturalist App and/or Notebook + Pencil.
