The Grande Prairie Plant Study Group will be meeting on February 9th for a presentation by Dr. Jessie Zgurski, a local biology instructor at Northwestern Polytechnic. Jessie completed her Master’s at the University of Alberta with a focus on understanding the evolutionary relationships among lilies, cycads, and other vascular plants. She then completed her Ph.D. studying the behavioural ecology of pikas.
She will give an overview of plant evolution through time and bring plant fossils, preserved specimens, and living examples of the major groups she will talk about!
