Join the Calgary Plant Study Group on February 7th, 2026, for GET TO KNOW PLANT FAMILIES, a workshop introducing the basics of plant family identification. We will explore key morphological features used to classify plants into families. For each plant family, we’ll “meet the relatives” by providing examples of common genera.
Participants will have hands-on time to examine herbarium specimens, identify their diagnostic characteristics, and practice sorting the plants into families. Please bring your favourite plant identification guide, a notebook, and a pencil. A magnifying glass or jeweller’s loupe is optional.
The group will meet in the Herbarium at the University of Calgary from 1–3 pm. Kindly RSVP to attend at calgarypsg@anpc.ab.ca.
Hope to see you there!
