May 25, 2024 – Bioengineering Walking Tour and Native Plant Workshop

Associated Environmental and the Town of Devon present an opportunity to learn about ecological restoration using soil bioengineering to restore and stabilize steep slopes and eroding stream banks. Bioengineering offers an economical and sustainable method of stabilizing slopes while promoting successional reclamation of disturbed sites. This is a free morning event intended to showcase a large variety of bioengineering systems which support community watershed resiliency.

About the Workshop

The Alberta Native Plant Council, Associated Environmental and the Town of Devon will host a planting workshop, provide a brief introduction to the native plant and installation methods. Participants will gain practical experience in the installation of native plants, and how they can be used to enhance ecosystem services and build resiliency into the watershed. Participants will have the opportunity to help install native plants along the Beaver Loop Trail where soil disturbance resulted from landslide activity.
