{"id":11282,"date":"2025-06-13T17:05:38","date_gmt":"2025-06-13T17:05:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anpc.ab.ca\/?p=11282"},"modified":"2026-04-24T17:46:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T17:46:15","slug":"save-the-date-botany-alberta-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anpc.ab.ca\/?p=11282","title":{"rendered":"June 13-15, 2025: Botany Alberta in the Beaver Hills Biosphere"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Join us for Botany Alberta from Friday, June 13, to Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre in the Beaver Hills Biosphere, just east of Edmonton! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Registration for Botany Alberta has closed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Weekend Guided Hikes:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Friday, June 13<sup>th<\/sup> afternoon: Smith-Blackburn Homestead (Edmonton and Area Land Trust conservation area).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Saturday, June 14<sup>th<\/sup> morning: Beaver Hills Biodiversity Trail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Saturday, June 14<sup>th<\/sup> afternoon: Strathcona Wilderness Centre trails.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sunday, June 15<sup>th<\/sup> morning: Hicks Conservation Land (Nature Conservancy of Canada and Edmonton and Area Land Trust conservation area).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sunday, June 15<sup>th<\/sup> afternoon: Campbell and Ball Berg Conservation Lands (Nature Conservancy of Canada conservation area).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These field trips will showcase the region\u2019s rolling terrain, which supports a mosaic of ecosystems, including lakes, wetlands (marshes, swamps, fens, bogs), and forests (deciduous and mixedwood). By participating, you will be documenting and updating plant species lists for the Beaver Hills Biosphere, supporting conservation and research efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Saturday Evening Presentation and Dinner:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Join us at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/us16.mailchimp.com\/mctx\/clicks?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.strathcona.ca%2Frecreation-events%2Frecreation-centres%2Fstrathcona-wilderness-centre%2F&amp;xid=41d4f19a1d&amp;uid=79258902&amp;iid=b4d00fa229&amp;pool=cts&amp;v=2&amp;c=1747088121&amp;h=3966ed837b09ed53a20181f7178a3ae8cd56f758a9717525c4215c405121017d\">Strathcona Wilderness Centre Lodge<\/a>\u00a0for a catered dinner, followed by an engaging evening presentation by local ecologist Dr. Kevin Timoney.
